Inking Practice

I'm currently working on two different children's books, both which happen to have the word "monster" in the title. Pretty convenient, huh? I'm having a lot of fun coming up with the character designs, and experimenting with inking.

Ink has a life of its own, and I love not really knowing how the lines are going to come out. There's a tangible excitement that comes with working with traditional media, especially paint and ink. There is no undo button- every stroke counts. It's frightening and exhilarating at the same time, and working with digital media just doesn't have the same... life, I guess. After working on several digital projects for the past few weeks, it's incredibly refreshing to go back to real, substantive mediums where every movement of the pen or brush has the potential to be catastrophic- or just right.
